Baturday News is a weekly blog written by Rachael, a high school student, bat advocate, and Save Lucy volunteer. Rachael’s interest in bats was sparked by the big brown bats that used the outside of her former home for a winter roost. Rachael has been writing the Baturday News for over three years.
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week. Save Lucy had an awesome one. ?
Dominion Power awarded a total of 1.2 million dollars to more than 100 nonprofit organizations and schools to support their work in environmental education and stewardship projects. A lot of amazing programs received grants from the power company. Save Lucy was one of them!!!
The grant money will be used to help fund Save Lucy’s educational program. It costs a lot to feed all the little bats and bring them to classrooms. This money will really help. The little bats are all especially grateful for the nice juicy worms they will be getting. The money will also be used to create publications and other activities. [But most of the grant award is earmarked for providing educational programming in areas of Virginia that don;t have budgets for high-quality live animal programming. If you're a teacher in Rockingham, Augusta, Albemarle, or Highland County, we want to hear from you! -- Ed]
Our president, Mrs. Sturges, was on the news in Mt. Solon, VA talking about the work that Save Lucy does. If you would like to see the video, you can see it here. The video shows Mrs. Sturges and some of our furry friends.
If you would like to read more about Dominion Power’s grant, you can find more information here.
On behalf of all our furry little friends, I would like to thank Dominion Power for its work in helping to protect the environment. And I would like to say a huge “Thank you” for recognizing Save Lucy!
And now, I would like to share a link with you. It is a link to a Wild Kratts episode and I think you’ll like it. Thank you TMC for sharing the link with me.
