Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week. I have been writing the Save Lucy blog for about 7 years now, and it has been a wonderful experience. When I started writing, I was in the 6th grade and loved bats because there was a family of big brown bats living outside my front door and I thought they were the most adorable creatures I’d ever seen. Since then, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned about many different kinds of bats from all over the world and how each one serves a very specific ecological niche. I’ve learned about how bats around the world are suffering and what people are doing to help. And I’ve learned that everyone plays a part in helping to save these wonderful animals. I hope that my blog has taught some of you these things as well.
I recently graduated from high school and I’m ready to explore the world. I will be taking a gap year to travel and explore my many interests. Hopefully some of my travels will involve seeing some bats. But, as I travel, I am sorry to say that I will be unable to continue writing my blog. I will check in from time to time and hope that all my readers continue to pursue their batty interests.
Thank you all for being such wonderful readers! Writing this blog has been a fantastic growing experience and I know that I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without the Save Lucy Campaign.
Bye for now…
This is such a bittersweet post. Rachael has been an amazing part of Save Lucy. She not only blogs, but writes poetry, contributes art, helps with programs, and makes us laugh. We will truly miss our Friday night surprises when we discovered her topic for the week. It's been a wonderful seven years, and we think great things are in store for Rachael. We think the Baturday News may be one of the longest running blogs ever! Well, at least the longest running, youth written, bat-focused blog ever! Thank you Rachael. Safe travels, and check in from time to time.--with love, the rest of the Save Lucy crew
