Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a good week! And I hope you all had a happy and spooky Halloween, filled with lots of treats. I am sure the bats all got a few extra mealworms to celebrate.
I had a great time at the Botanic Gardens’ Bat Bonanza last Saturday. There was a great turn out and the bats were fantastic! If you didn’t know it was little Nog, the Brazilian Freetail bat’s first time doing a table show, and he handled it like a champ! Flip and Curly the Big Brown bats also enjoyed being able to teach everyone about bats and had fun giving a demonstration of their vocal abilities. Everyone had a great time. : )
I also want to give a shout out to Mrs. Sturges, the president of the Save Lucy Campaign and my mentor, for doing an interview with WTOP radio. In the interview, she explains how bats aren’t creepy or scary at all. She explains how fascinating and important they are. The interview includes a video showing off the talents of Mrs. Sturges, Curly the slightly chunky Big Brown Bat, and the amazing Ariel who is a Red Bat. Honorable mentions include a Tricolor bat who is having a bit of a bad hair day, and another tired Red Bat.
If you want to watch the video you can see it here.
